How this PDF viewer works

You choose a PDF, it uploads, and the pages appear in the browser window. Nothing installs, and you are not asked to create an account before the document opens.

The controls are the ones a desktop reader gives you: forward and back, a page number to jump to, zoom in and out, fit to width, full screen and print. Where the PDF holds real text rather than a scan, you can search it.

Your PDF is deleted after you view it. That is the part worth knowing before you upload a contract or a payslip to any website, and it is why this viewer asks for nothing else about you.

When a PDF will not open, it is almost always one of three things: it is password-protected and needs the password stripped by its author, it was truncated in transit and the file is incomplete, or it is larger than the limit below.

The limit is 25 MB per PDF. Text documents rarely come close to it; a long scan can pass it on its own, because every scanned page is stored as an image.

Opens in seconds

The first page appears as soon as the upload finishes — no download and no install step in between.

Deleted after viewing

Nothing to install

Runs in the browser you already have, on a locked-down work laptop as readily as on a phone.

A PDF is the format people send when the layout matters: an invoice, a signed contract, a scanned form, a manual. It is also the format that stops you when the machine in front of you has no reader installed, or the one it has wants you to sign in first. Upload the file here and it renders in the browser with the pages, fonts and images the sender exported.

The viewer takes one PDF at a time, up to 25 MB. Once it opens you can move between pages, jump to a page number, zoom, fit the page to the window and print. PDF is one of 70+ extensions this viewer opens — DOCX, XLSX, DWG and PSD each have a page of their own — but this page is the PDF one.

Your file is deleted after you view it. Nothing is installed on your machine and nothing stays on ours, which matters when the document you needed to read once was a contract or a bank statement.

Two things stop a PDF from opening. A password-protected file needs the password removed by whoever made it; the viewer will not guess it. A file over 25 MB has to be compressed or split first, and scans are usually the reason — a scanned page is stored as a photograph rather than as text. That is also why searching a scanned PDF finds nothing: its words are pixels, not characters.

.PDF

PDF, the Portable Document Format

A PDF carries its own fonts and layout, which is why invoices, contracts and e-books are sent as one.

Open the PDFs that actually reach you

Invoices and contracts

Read a signed contract or a supplier invoice on a machine with no reader, without asking IT to install one.

Manuals and e-books

The appliance manual that only exists as a PDF opens page by page, and search finds the error code for you.

Papers and coursework

Journal articles and lecture notes arrive as PDFs; open one on a library computer or a phone, with no sign-in.

Is it safe to view my PDF document online?

The upload travels over HTTPS, and your PDF file is reachable only through a random identifier your browser holds and nothing links to. It is deleted once you have viewed it, which is the part that matters most.

Does Doconut store uploaded PDF files?

It's important to note that we do not store uploaded PDF files after processing. It gets deleted as soon as it is viewed. You are requested to avoid uploading invalid format, corrupt or infected documents here.

Are there any limits to using Doconut.app to view PDF files?

One PDF file at a time, up to 25MB. That ceiling is set per format, so another viewer here may take more or less than this page does.
