What happens after you upload
The drawing is rebuilt from the geometry in the file — arcs, hatches, line weights and dimension text — rather than from the small preview image a DWG carries inside it. That is the difference between reading a title block and guessing at it.
You can switch layers off. Drawings sent around a project are dense because they carry every discipline at once, and hiding the hatching or the services layer is usually all it takes to find the dimension you came for.
Measuring is built in, because that is generally why you open a drawing you did not make: one distance, one angle, one area, without buying a CAD license for a single number.
Uploads stop at 10 MB and the drawing is deleted after you view it — no copy is kept. A file over the limit is not lost to you: purge the unused blocks, or save out the one sheet you need, and it will go through.
Drawn from the geometry

Someone sent you a drawing and you do not have AutoCAD. Upload the DWG, DXF or DGN — up to 10 MB — and it opens on this page with its layers, line weights and dimension text intact. Nothing to install, no account, and your file is deleted after you view it.
Which of the three you were sent matters. DWG is AutoCAD's own format and it is revised every few releases, which is the usual reason a drawing that opens on the sender's machine is refused by an older program. DXF is the same drawing written in a published, text-based format so that software other than AutoCAD can read it — if a DWG will not open anywhere, that is the file to ask for. DGN comes from MicroStation and turns up mostly on roads, rail and utilities work.
Once the drawing is on screen you can zoom, pan, move between sheets, switch layers off to see what they were covering, and measure a distance or an area. If a file is refused for size, purging unused blocks and saving out the single sheet you need as a DXF is usually enough to get under 10 MB.

The extension tells you which program made the drawing, and how likely it is to open somewhere else.
AutoCAD's own save format
What AutoCAD writes by default. The format is revised every few releases, which is why older software often refuses a recent drawing.
The published exchange format
The same drawing written as text, documented so that software other than AutoCAD can read it. Ask the sender for a DXF when a DWG will not open.
MicroStation's drawing file
Bentley's format. If the drawing came off a roads, rail or utilities job, it is usually this rather than DWG.

Is it safe to view my DWG document online?
The upload travels over HTTPS, and your DWG file is reachable only through a random identifier your browser holds and nothing links to. It is deleted once you have viewed it, which is the part that matters most.
Does Doconut store uploaded DWG files?
It's important to note that we do not store uploaded DWG files after processing. It gets deleted as soon as it is viewed. You are requested to avoid uploading invalid format, corrupt or infected documents here.
Are there any limits to using Doconut.app to view DWG files?
One DWG file at a time, up to 10MB. That ceiling is set per format, so another viewer here may take more or less than this page does.
