A schedule arrives as an .mpp and nobody outside the project office has Microsoft Project. Upload it to the Project viewer and the plan renders in the browser: .mpp and .mpx, up to 20 MB, deleted once you close the tab. Those two extensions are the whole list — a Project file exported as XML is not one of them, and neither is .mpt.

Doconut.app opens a plan so you can read it. Tasks, dates and the dependencies between them render as they were saved; you can move around the schedule, zoom, search for a task or a person by name, and print what is on screen with Ctrl+P.
What it does not do is edit. This is a viewer, so nothing you do here changes the plan, and there is nothing to save back. It also does not host the file for anyone else: each person opens their own copy, because there are no accounts and no shared links.

- Showing a schedule to a client who has no Project licence, without exporting it to PDF first.
- Reading a plan on a machine you cannot install software on — a locked-down laptop, a borrowed desktop, a phone.
